Hardware Adjustments#

The amount of light inside your GemLightbox directly affects your exposure. Adding or removing accessories is the quickest way to make a significant change before touching any software settings.

GemLightbox Max

  • Attach or detach the magnetic sparkle lights on the sides of the machine to increase or reduce light intensity

  • Place or remove LumiPanels at the opening to control how much light is trapped inside

  • Turn the rotating sparkle lights on the ceiling of the GemLightbox Max on or off by pressing the center button, or remove individual LEDs one at a time as they are magnetic

GemLightbox Pro

  • Attach or detach the magnetic sparkle lights on the sides of the machine

  • Keep or remove the front panel to control how much light is contained inside the machine

Software Adjustments#

GemCam Light Controls#

In the adjustment panel, go to GemCam Light Controls and drag the slider left or right to increase or lower the intensity of the light emitting from the front of the GemCam Pro. This is the most direct way to control exposure from the software side.

Scene Preset Adjustment Panel#

Go to the Scene Preset adjustment panel and use the Brightness slider to raise or lower the overall exposure level. You can also adjust Tone to fine-tune how bright or dark the jewelry itself appears in the image.

Once you've found the right settings for a piece or metal type, click Save as Custom Preset at the bottom of the panel to save them for future use.

Why do my images look overexposed? Try removing some light accessories from your GemLightbox, such as the magnetic sparkle lights or LumiPanels, and lower the brightness slider in the app. If you're using a black background, make sure your Scene Preset is set to Eclipse Mode.
