Learn how to adjust your GemIQ camera settings on mobile — including image resolution, video quality, delay timer, and macro lens — to capture the best possible photos and videos of your jewelry.
Open the GemIQ Mobile app, tap Camera, then tap the gear icon (⚙) at the top right of the screen to access camera settings. From here you can control image resolution, video quality, the delay timer, and the macro lens.
GemIQ app installed and up to date
Logged in to your GemIQ account
Launch the GemIQ app.
Tap Camera.
Tap the gear icon (⚙) at the top right of the screen.
The camera settings panel will open.
Save Photo in Max Resolution
Saves images at your smartphone's highest available resolution.
On: Captures at your device's maximum resolution — ideal for print, archiving, or high-detail use.
Off: Saves at 1080×1080, which is optimized for websites and e-commerce platforms.
Save Photo as 300 DPI
Saves images at 300 dots per inch. Recommended for print materials, catalogs, or any close-up digital display where fine detail matters.
Save Videos in 4K
Saves video at 4K resolution for sharper detail when showcasing fine craftsmanship.
File size note: Enabling 300 DPI and/or 4K will increase file sizes. Typical sizes: photos 3–4 MB, videos approximately 40 MB.
Enable Delay Timer
Adds a short delay before each capture to reduce camera shake. Especially useful when using a tripod or shooting in low-light conditions.
Enable Macro Lens
Macro Lens feature only available for iPhone Pro and Pro Max models only (3 lenses)
Toggles between the standard and macro lens so you can photograph small jewelry pieces with close-up detail.
Once enabled:
Return to the capture screen.
Tap the flower icon at the bottom left to activate macro mode.
Make sure your lens is clean for the sharpest results.
Tap the Reset button on the camera viewer to restore all camera settings to their original defaults.
Settings are saved automatically. The app will capture photos and videos according to your chosen settings until you change them again.
Gear icon not visible: Make sure you are on the camera screen, not the gallery.
4K video unavailable: Confirm your device supports 4K recording.
Macro lens option greyed out: This feature requires an iPhone Pro or Pro Max.
Settings not saving after closing the app: Update GemIQ to the latest version.
Leaving Max Resolution and 300 DPI enabled when exporting for e-commerce — 1080×1080 at standard resolution uploads faster and performs better on most platforms.
Enabling the macro lens in settings but forgetting to tap the flower icon on the capture screen — both steps are required.
Not cleaning the macro lens before close-up shots, which causes blurry results.
