If the GemIQ mobile app only shows Eclipse and Neutral mode, it usually means:

  • There is no GemLightbox device currently connected, or

  • You have a GemSparkle mode triggered, or

  • You have a GemLoupe mode triggered connected.

For GemSparkle and GemLoupe users, seeing only these two modes is normal.

What Do Eclipse and Neutral Mode Mean?

Neutral Mode

Use Neutral Mode for standard jewellery photography without an Eclipse setup.

Eclipse Mode

Use Eclipse Mode when photographing jewellery with an Eclipse or black-background setup.

What Should I Do?

If you are using a GemSparkle or GemLoupe, no further action is required. The Eclipse and Neutral options are the expected modes available in the GemIQ mobile app.

If you are using another GemLightbox device and expect to see additional device-specific controls, check that your device is properly connected to the GemIQ app.

Expected Result

Once a compatible GemLightbox device is successfully connected, the GemIQ app should recognise the device and display the appropriate controls.

Common Questions

Q: Is something wrong if I only see Eclipse and Neutral mode?
A: Not necessarily. This is normal if you are using a GemSparkle or GemLoupe, or if no GemLightbox device is currently connected.
