GemCam Cannot Connect to the GemLightbox Pro

Quick Answer

GemCam connects to the GemLightbox Pro via Bluetooth. If the connection fails, the most common causes are Bluetooth being switched off on your computer, another device already occupying the GemLightbox Pro's Bluetooth slot, or the GemLightbox Pro needing a power-cycle. Work through the steps below in order to restore the connection.

Before You Start

  • GemHub must be installed and up to date on your Windows or Mac computer.

  • Your GemLightbox Pro must be plugged in and switched on.

Steps

  1. Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on your computer. Open your system settings and make sure Bluetooth is switched on. Your computer cannot detect the GemLightbox Pro without it.

  2. Power-cycle the GemLightbox Pro. Use the power switch to turn the GemLightbox Pro off. Wait five seconds, then turn it back on. This resets the Bluetooth connection and makes the unit discoverable again.

  3. Disconnect any other devices paired to the GemLightbox Pro. The GemLightbox Pro supports one active Bluetooth connection at a time. If another device is connected, disconnect it first, then try again from your computer.

  4. Restart your computer. A restart resets the hardware and software systems that manage Bluetooth and clears most temporary errors.

  5. Clear the GemHub cache. A corrupted cache can prevent GemHub from establishing a connection. Follow the steps in the GemHub Cache Clearing Guide
