Fix Blurry Jewelry Photos
Quick Answer
Blurry or out-of-focus jewelry photos are usually caused by a dirty lens, a dirty jewelry piece, incorrect focal distance, or wrong camera settings. Follow the steps below to restore sharp, clear images.
Before You Start
Make sure your GemLightbox is set up and powered on.
Have your smartphone or camera ready and positioned correctly.
Have a soft microfiber or lens-cleaning cloth on hand.
Steps
Clean your camera lens. Use a clean, soft microfiber cloth to gently wipe the front lens of your smartphone or camera. Extended use can leave smudges, oils, or moisture on the lens that cause hazy or blurry images.
Clean your jewelry piece. Remove any fingerprints, dust, or residue from the item you are photographing. Even small smudges on the jewelry surface can affect focus and sharpness.
Check the focal distance. Make sure your camera is positioned at or beyond the minimum focal distance required for the shot. Placing the camera too close to the subject prevents the lens from focusing properly.
Enable the correct settings on iPhone Pro and Pro Max. If you are using an iPhone Pro or Pro Max, enable both the delay timer and the macro lens in your camera settings. These settings help reduce camera shake and ensure the camera uses the correct close-up lens for small jewelry pieces.
Expected Result
Your photos should appear sharp and clearly focused. Jewelry details, facets, and surface finishes should be distinct and well-defined.
