Step 01 · Unbox

Check what's in the box

Tap each item below as you find it. If anything's missing, we'll send it overnight — no questions asked.

Pro tip: Save the foam insert — it doubles as a clean macro background for loose stones.

2

Step 02 · Power up

Charge your GemSparkle

Plug in the included USB-C cable. Allow a full charge before first use — about 90 minutes from empty.

  1. 1Connect the power cord to your GemSparkle.
  2. 2Plug it into a power source.
  3. 3Wait until the indicator stops pulsing — that's full.

Pro tip: Subsequent top-ups take under 40 minutes once you've broken in the battery.

3

Step 03 · Choose your light

Pick a lighting mode for your stone

GemSparkle ships with three colour-temperature presets tuned by gemologists. Tap each to preview — you can change anytime by pushing the Sparkles button up or down.

Which type of piece are you photographing?

Yellow Lights

A warm, candlelit glow that flatters yellow gold and brings out honey tones in citrine, topaz, and tigereye.

Best for · Vibrant coloured gemstones

Pro tip: Hold the dial for two seconds to save your favorite as the default startup mode.

4

Step 04 · Pick a sparkle mode

Select your sparkle mode

Three motion modes — flicker for video, steady for photos, gradual for ambient shots.

How will the piece be displayed?

Sparkle Mode

A 2 Hz pulse that animates fire and scintillation across all types of jewelry — best for video reels.

Best for · Reels, motion content

Pro tip: Remove the sparkle lens and use only the 5× lens for a more subtle, natural shimmer.

5

Step 05 · Shoot

Take your first shot

Hold your phone 4–6 inches above the piece, tap to focus, then press the shutter. GemSparkle does the rest.

Pro tip: Using the white background cloth gives you the cleanest backdrop — save the Eclipse cloth for high-contrast stone studies.

Step 06 · Next up

Open GemHub and start your library

Pair GemSparkle with GemHub to enable remote shutter, AI cleanup, and one-tap export to GemStudio.
